Youth and Education Initiative

The Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation is pleased to have funding available to groups and organizations within Wilkinsburg that support the academic and civic endeavors of our youth. The WCDC youth initiative has $3,000 available which may be awarded in its entirety or in smaller amounts depending on the number of applicants and the quality of the applications.

Interested parties should submit an application by the last Friday in March. All projects must be completed by August 31 of the year in which the funding was provided.

In 2010, the WCDC established the mini-grants Youth & Education Initiative. The first mini-grant was awarded to the Wilkinsburg Boys & Girls Club to put five Wilkinsburg youth through nine weeks of summer camp, and to sponsor a field trip to Idlewild Park.

The 2011 grant was awarded to the Wilkinsburg Community Ministry for its Youth Meal Partnership program. This program will provide hot, nutritious meals for youth enrolled in the Wilkinsburg Boys & Girls Club summer program.
