WCDC partners with many organizations that are located in Wilkinsburg or do work in the community.The following is a sample of those that are active and what they are doing: Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation has done considerable work in the Hamnett neighborhood including continuing work renovating the Crescent Apartments. The Wilkinsburg Chamber of Commerce works alongside WCDC on economic development in the community. The Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence of the University of Pittsburgh provides services for local businesses and entrepreneurs. Hosanna House is located adjacent to the Wilkinsburg business district and serves 35,000 people a year with a variety of services. |
Wilkinsburg Community Ministry serves many in Wilkinsburg with programs such as Meals on Wheels and in the summer of 2011 WCDC supported WCM in their Youth Meal Partnership Program.
Nine Mile Run Watershed Association works to restore and protect the local urban watershed through such initiatives as the Wilkinsburg Tree Vitalize Project- 500 Trees Initiative! They also created the Wilkinsburg Street Tree Plan for the WCDC. |
